Contact Details – Include your full name, home address, mobile phone number and email address. Your date of birth is irrelevant and unless you are applying for an acting or modeling job, you do not need to include a photo.
Profile – A resume profile is a concise statement that highlights your key attributes and helps you stand out from the crowd. Usually placed at the top of your CV, it selects a number of relevant achievements and skills, while also demonstrating your career goals. A good resume focuses on the industry you’re applying for, as your cover letter will be specific about the job. Keep your personal CV short and engaging – 100 words is the perfect length. Learn how to write a personal statement for your resume.
Education – List and date all previous education, including qualifications. Put most recent first. Include degree type/grade and date. Mention specific modules only where relevant.
Work Experience – List your work experience in reverse date order, making sure that everything you mention is relevant to the job you are applying for. Include your job title, company name, length of time with the organization, and your key responsibilities. If you have a lot of relevant work experience, this section should come before the education level.
Skills and Achievements – This is where you talk about the foreign languages you speak and the computer software packages you can master. The key skills you list should be relevant to the position. Don’t exaggerate your abilities, as you will need to back up your assertions during the interview. If you have a lot of job-specific skills, it’s a good idea to create a skills-based resume.
Hobbies – ‘Social’, ‘going to the movies’ and ‘reading’ won’t get the recruiter’s attention. However, related interests can provide a more complete picture of who you are, as well as give you something to talk about in an interview. Examples include writing your own blog or community newsletter if you want to be a journalist, joining a theater group if you are looking to get into sales, and getting involved in climate change activism if you want to. work for the environment. If you don’t have any related interests or hobbies, skip this section.
References – You do not need to provide the names of the referees at this stage. You can say “references are available upon request,” but most employers will assume that’s the case, so if you’re running short on space, you can skip it.
